Predjamski Grad, Postojnska Jama, Baptism in Celja

On August 31st we picked up Bro. Eckehard Jensen from the airport and drove to Postojnska to join the District for a P-day activity. We took a tour of this castle, Predjamski Grad. This castle is perched boldly in a 123-metre-high cavern below an overhanging cliff and above the karst swallow hole of the Lokva stream. A masterpiece of medieval imagination, courage and cunning in disobedience. Restoration of the castle began in late 1990. The first castle on this site was probably built in the 12th century. It's most famous owner was Erazem a robber who carried out raids on the caravans of merchants.

Paul and Brother Jensen. Bro. Jensen was with us for three days. He trained us in CES & Seminary and Institute (S&I), presented a FHE for the Sr. missionaries, and did a teacher training for 29 of us in the Ljubljana Chapel. We learned how to invite and teach by the spirit. We learned that the true teacher is the Spirit. We learned how to ask questions of our class.

On our way into the castle

I thought the boys would enjoy this pictures. They had quite the weapons in those days.

Sister Justus and I on one of the upper floors. A beautiful view.

The whole district of Ljubjlana together.

For my birthday we went back to the same area and visited the Postojna cave. It was a 1 1/2 hr. tour down into the cave. We went in on an cave train, got off and walked thru the cave and ended in a huge part of the cave where they sometimes have concerts which hold 3000 people. Very beautiful. It was discovered in 1818 by locals and the next year they started tours. It is the largest cave in the 'classic karst' and the most visited show cave in Europe. More than 32 million people have visited. Thank you for all your birthday wishes. It was a great day.

It was 8 degrees cel. and so we rented a coat. On the train it was cold but once we started walking we warmed right up.

Saturday, Sept 5 we drove to Celja with Elder & Sister Lindorf, office couple, to Daniel Radakovic's baptism. He is a YSA who was baptized by his friend Simon. The drive to Celja is beautiful; there are wonderful little villages like this all along the way. There are 2 million people who live in Slovenia and we wonder where they all live and we have decided it is in these lovely villages.

Sunday we drove to Maribor for church and had a wonderful Fast and Testimony meeting with them. We met Sister Mihaela Brosche-Mlakar & Sister Andreja Robnik, two wonderfully faithful sisters. They have some wonderful families in this Branch with YM & YW.

We came back that Sunday and met with Rebekah Giboin, a dancer with the Ljubljana Ballet, to make plans for a YSA lunch after District Conference this coming Sunday. We have a General Authority visiting from France and the missionaries will have an opportunity to be taught by him on Saturday.
Our thought for the week: Teach your children to pray: "Our goal when we teach our children to pray is for them to want God to write upon their hearts and be willing then to go and do what God asks of the them." "When we teach those we love that we are spirit children temporarily away from a loving Heavenly Father, we open the door of prayer to them." Pres. Eyring
