Week 2 May 28, 2016

This week we are on night shift and serve with the Rogers (LV), Grimleys (Lehi), Harris's ( ), Sister Wilson (Rexburg) temples.  Sister Rogers has spent a lot of time training me and hopefully I have it down but someone is always close.  President & Sister Bench were on duty the first of the week and President and Sister Bennion on Friday and Saturday.  We were able to do most all the ordinances this week.  We had a nice group in the baptistry. I was able to help with an own endowment and a session.
One day I walked down to the Hudson River with Sister Rogers and Wilson to see the Navy boats come up the river.  We got there a little early and had to wait awhile and then finally they came up the Hudson.

Friday Paul and I took the Stanton Island Ferry over to the island.  It takes you right by the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.  We took the subway 1 and it took about 1/2 hour and then 1/2 hour across.  A nice sleepy town with not much traffic or people.  We didn't know where to go so just walked around the block and came back to the ball park.

Sunday we went to Church with the Grimleys.  They attend the Fleshing Ward, a Mandarin speaking ward.  It took about an hour on subway 1 and 7 to get there and then a 15 minute walk.  Very fun.  Sacrament meeting in Mandarin and then we attended a combined Primary of Chinese and Korean and then YW also combined.  Great Saints, very faithful.  Saturday the Chinese Ward had an own endowment at the temple and many of the people were at thee temple the day before.

Sunday afternoon we were invited to President and Sister Bennion's home along with Elder & Sister Call and Brother and Sister Wilcox for dinner.  Very delicious and a lovely afternoon.

Monday is Memorial Day and the temple was open.  We went in at 6:30 to help with a baptism group of 30 youth from New Jersey.  It ended up being a busy group with 42 on the 9 o'clock session and 30+ in the 11 o'clock session.  All the other ordinances were also performed and then Sister Bench provided a nice lunch of sandwiches and cookies for us.

President and Sister Stone, first President and Matron on the temple, were in the temple today.  Also had an opportunity to meet Margaret May.  She is from India and has been here about 19 years and is a nanny for two doctors of a 2 1/2 year old boy.  She works in the temple whenever she can.

The kids are all having fun this weekend.  Rob and boys went to Island Park, Kory and Katie went camping and Kimberly and Gary came to Utah to put Kaylee and Mallorie into EFY in Provo.  Have fun, we love you.
