August 19 - 25, 2013

Monday evening was our FHE.  We served fajitas, rice, beans and chips and topped it off with watermelon.  Everyone seemed to enjoy it.  The only ones missing were the Victors who had dinner plans with one of the SL Temple Square sisters and her family.   

12 of us fit nicely, 8 at the table and 4 off to the side at the coffee table.  Elder & Sister Hathaway, Elder & Sister Hoskins, Elder & Sister Warner and Sister Chan.

After dinner we had our lesson.  We divided into three groups and researched The Law of Obedience, The Law of Sacrifice and the Law of Consecration.  Coming back we shared what we had learned.

This week at the temple we met and helped serve Brother Ee and his son who were visiting from mainland China.  The son is studying medicine and is in his 3rd year.  He plans to go on a mission when he completes his schooling.  Another son is awaiting his mission call.  

 Walking home we ran into these Filipino sisters who had also been to the temple this day.  Today is their holiday and they spend it by coming to the temple and then going back to the Wan Chai Bldg. and having Church.

 Tuesday evening was the Beyond 5 concert.  They had extra tickeets so we were able to go.  We met Yessie and Michelle there and then luckily ran into these Sister Missionaries who lead to the concert hall.  Good thing they were there or we would have never found it.

Sister Castleton on the right and the parents of the youngest of the singers.  One singer is from Colorado, California, a couple from Utah and one from Australia.  They have been together for five months and have been touring Asia.

Me and the Hathaways.  We took a taxi home and found out we were so very close.  Only cost 50 HKD to get home.  Well worth it.  We were in by 9:30.

 Walking to the temple this day we passed the gardener and Paul wanted a picture of her with her broom and hat.

Friday we decided to go to the Heritage Museum to see the Bruce Lee movie on his life.  It was very interesting and had subtitles.  You had to read really fast to keep up.  We learned a lot and are going back on Monday as an outing with the missionaries.

 There is a wide river we cross to get there.

 Coming down the Yellow Brick Road we saw this girl in front of us walking in these heels.

Saturday was a really busy day in the temple.  Every session but the 10 o'clock was filled to capacity or beyond.  Every one had extra chairs in them.  It was wonderful to have so many attend.  We served in the baptistery several times and always helped at the veil.  

Saturday after the temple Sister Hoskins and I caught the shuttle and headed to the Cultural Center to see Swan Lake by the Hong Kong Ballet.  We were a little high but the price was right.  It was very enjoyable.  We got home about 10:30 on the shuttle.

Sunday we left for Church on the 11:45 shuttle.  Sue Victor went with us.  Mike has been sick for the last couple of days so he stayed home.  Before Church Shannon and I practiced.  I am so proud of her.  She played prelude for Sacrament meeting and did so well.  She has learned at least six songs she can play really well.  The Collins family were our speakers and they spoke on the Sacrament.

I helped in Primary for the two hours and it went well.  Sue does a great job with the children.  Shannon and I had our lesson on being hard workers like the Saints in Nauvoo.  We missed Michelle this Sunday.  After the Block we had Home Teaching given by Elder Lewis and Paul Sequiria.  After that we had a great dinner upstairs prepared by Janet, her friend Karen, Rowena, Mama Baby and several other sisters.  They do a great job.

It is not what we eat that makes us strong but what we digest.

It is not what we study that makes us scholars, but what we remember.

Some things I learned from the Ensign articles this month.  

Revelation comes when the children of God are on the move.  Do all we can and wait upon the Lord.  DC 88:63.  Your minds become single to God.  vs 68.  Enlightens our minds and speaks peace.  Study it out--peace and warmth  DHOaks

Liahona required faith, diligence, heed we give to the pattern, follow the counsel.

There is no point in hearing a command and not doing it.
