Paul and Mar Jean Lewis: July 28

Sunday we attended the Laie 1st Ward. They are planning for the Ward campout which starts today. They are at Hukilau Beach and this year they are sharing with Laie 4th Ward. This is always a fun event. Luckily this week we can check it out because we are on early morning shift 7-1. We came home and fixed lunch then some took a nap and at 2 we left for "just serve" and also stopped at Leslie's where we picked up some things for the homeless. Where she gets all this stuff I do not know. I changed her bed for her and she is sad that we will be leaving soon.

Sunday evening The YSAS Stake had a Laie Temple celebration "The Legacy of Pioneer & Laie Temple 100th Anniversary" a musical tribute. They had several choirs, some chldren, Ward choirs, sister choirs and the VC missionary choir. It was really delightful. The President of the Stake, who is Lupe Pollard's husband finsihed up by talking about his family, especially his mother and fatheer who sacrificed so much to see that her eight children were brought up in the church. Every morning they had scripture study and prayer. It was their culture. In the new movie "The Other Side of Heaven 2" the young man who joined the church and his father was a preacher in anotheer church was buried in the sand because he did not do what his father told him to do about staying away from the Mormons and then later when he served as a missionary on his family's island he was beaten up and in a coma in acual life, thsi man is the Stake President's brother-in-law's father.

Today, Monday, we spoke with Kaylee, our first time. She comes home in two weeks. She has done a great job on her mission. She flies into Twin Falls with two other Elders.

We are going on a paddle board/kayac adventure today before we take them to the airport. Their, Courtney and Kimberly, time has gone quickly.

It was Laie 1st Ward Camp Out this week. We went over several nights for the tent to tent, luau, and carnival night.

The rest of the week was busy in the temple. Tuesday we stayed in the temple all day. We did our shift, then sealings, then an endowment, them Paul to Baptisms and I went to laundry. It was a long day because we started with Prayer meeting. We were on the early morning schedule and did the 11 o'clock session every day. Zina, in laundry, was by herself mid day so I stayed a couple of extra hours to help her out.

Friday the Wens were here for Parley's wedding. They stayed at our house and President and Sister Hallsstrom were kind enough to let us stay in there home for a couple of days while they were here. Saturday morning I had an sealing to a deceased spouse and then child to parent sealing. They were suppose to be there at 8:45 and I wanted to go to Parley and Ayana's sealing so caught Sister Hunt, who had come in early, and she covered for me while I went to the sealing. Paul did the 9 o'clock session. Pres. Aki did the sealing. When I got back, the family had still not arrived so I helped at a couple of veils and went to check again and they had just come in. A very sweet family. The mom was sealed to her deceased husband and then their 66 year old daughter was sealed to them. Such wonderful things happen in the temple.

I ended up helping in baptistery. We had a youth conference from Kawai with hundreds of kids. I helped from noon until they were gone around 2. Stopped in the laundry and helped fold a few jump suits and towels and then decided they had enough help so went home. That evening at 6:30 we picked up the Hunts and went to the wedding receeption. It was very lovely. Ayana and her mother did a beautiful job. They had a sit down dinner and then a really cute program. A game on your phone guessing who pursued who, who got the first kiss, how many kids, stuff like that. Then they had the dance with groomsmen and bridesmaids and Parley and then Ayana danced for Parley, tossing the boughet. A very fun evening.

Sunday we went to Miliani 1 and 2nd wards. In one of the wards Paul saw the family who came with their son, who is going to the MarshalsIslands on his mission, and he was the escort and the officiator for their session. We both bore our testimonies. We also saw many other temple workers and patrons. The Sharps were there also.

We finished up the evening by going to Break the Fast at the PCC. President and Sister Walker were here doing interviews. They are great people. A wonderful week filled with many inspiring events.
